Andrew J. EvertsAndrew J. EVERTS was born in Eaton, Madison County, NY May 21, 1843 to Andrew and Harriet BONNEY EVERTS . Andrew joined in the War of the Rebellion enlisting at Oswego, NY Sept 12, 1864 as a private in Co. D. 184th NY volunteers and mustered out of service at the close of the war. He moved west to Audrain County, MO in 1865 and remained there six years. He then went to New York on a visit, stayed there and in Michigan until 1872 when he went back to Missouri and remained there that winter. In 1873 he came to English township, Jersey county, Illinois stayed there 16 months, moved to Mississippi township, on section 11 and lived there six years. In the spring of 1881 he moved to the farm on the west half of section 15.

He was married to Celia DAY in Jan., 1868. They had one child Cora M. born Dec. 22, 1868. Celia died Oct., 1870. On Jan 28, 1875 he was married to Mrs. Emma LANDON HARTWELL, born May 20, 1849 in Jersey county, IL. Three children were born to them Walter W. born Nov. 3, 1875, died Sept. 25, 1877, Eugene A., born Dec. 29, 1877 and Hugh O. born Nov. 2, 1879. Mrs. Everts had two children by her first husband. They are Hattie A. HARTWELL born Jan. 3, 1870 and Florence R. HARTWELL born Jan. 3, 1872.

Mr. EVERTS had 320 acres of good farm land on which he built a two story frame residence,a barn, granaries and corn cribs. He was a member of the K. of H. and of the G.A.R. Lowe Post 295 in Jerseyville, IL. Andrew died at his home five miles south of Jerseyville, IL Nov. 20, 1890 aged 47 years, 5 months and 29 days. At the time of his death he held the office of Senior Vice Commander of the GAR Lowe Post 295 Jerseyville, IL. Emma LANDON EVERTS died Nov. 8, 1944 at her home on East Exchange St., Jerseyville, Illinois at the age of 95 years, 5 months and 18 days. Mrs. Everts was the daughter of the late Wm. D. and Alvira CORY LANDON, pioneer residents of Jersey County. She was a long time member of the Jerseyville Baptist Church. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery, Jerseyville, IL.
